I will not be uploading any pictures for the next 3 or 4 days. I’ll be taking photos and should have them up as soon as I can.

A New Endeavor

I’ve started a secondary blog. The secondary blog is a photo-blog. I am trying to update it daily. It is going to be slightly difficult or me, as I am using it to force me to use my camera as well. So if you find this type of thing interesting, you can follow it at http://www.jedirogue.com/photoblog/ . And maybe, I’ll be able to use it to help me post more often on here.

Well, it definitely could have been worse. Looks like I should get the truck back mid-January. Total damages look to be around $4100.

Earthquake

Apr 18 2008

Well, here’s my story from this morning’s surprise. I woke up. I heard/felt the headboard shaking and then looked at Oscar. Oscar looked at me with the “I didn’t do it” face. So of course, I thought he had done something and didn’t think anything more of it. And because I can’t normally see a clock from where I sleep (bad vision and all), I didn’t even try to see what time it was. It wasn’t until this morning driving into work that I heard on the radio, “Did you feel the earthquake last night?” I guess the blame doesn’t go to the dog (at least this time).

What’s new

Howdy folks! Ok, long story short,

1. Put offer on new house

2. “Bees on the what now?”… lalala… Something about underwear gnomes…

3. Offer accepted

4. Realize need to sell old house

5. Huff puff… clean… paint ceillings (this sucked)… hire someone to clean carpets

6. put old house on the market

7. And finally feel like something needs to be done… but all I can do is wait.

So, this has been Crissy’s and my last month and half. It has been pretty crazy. After getting the house ready, we moved the cats out (Crissy’s parents are being kind enough to watch them) and the dogs have been spending time elsewhere (Oscar is visiting Merle during the day and Macy gets to go to work with Crissy every day). Having the house ready to show all the time is kind of a pain. Basically all the realtor has to do is call us up and give us an hour heads up. I guess letting them have access helps more people to see it.

On to the new house. It’s really big (especially compared to our old house). We’ll be moving from our 1350 sq ft house with no basement to the new one of 2338 sq ft (not counting the basement). Its a new construction, although we did not build it. To see pictures you can go to the Photo Album page or click here.

The other amusing aspect is the address. No we did not buy the house for the address! It just happened to come with a cool address. I’ll put the address here and let my readers comment on it: 404 Bluestem. On another note… It appears that we don’t actually have a picture of the front of the house… We’ll have to get one and then I’ll post it up here (probably Tuesday or Wednesday).

Anyways, I think I’m going to have a constant headache for a while… At least until my old house sells and I’m moved into the new one. At least we move in on May 24. Hmm… that isn’t too far off… Let me know what you think of the new place, and I’ll try to keep the blog updated.

Humidifier update

For the few who follow my humidifier updates. I am no longer using the old humidifier. I have installed a unit that hooks up to the furnace. It only works when the furnace is on, so I think it will take it a while to get caught up. But it does seem to be working.

Weather update

So far my day has gone like this…

~6:00 AM: Get up and start shovelling driveway (snowblower helps here). By the way currently there is a barely one car width area to get to the street. I guess that’s ok since there really is only one lane of traffic down our street.

~6:45 AM: Drive Crissy to work (seeing as how her car would definately had trouble).

~7:10 AM: Get Crissy across town to work. Gas station is open, so I decide to fill up.

~7:45 AM: Get home.

~8:00 AM: Decide to figure out why there is a water spot on the ceilling.

~8:10-8:50 AM: Shovel the attic (yes the attic). Apparently the blizzard conditions were in the right direction to push snow in the attic vents. This is a pain in the ass. I hate climbing around in the attic. And to cary a small cooler, utility light, and dust pan (I found this worked best) was an even bigger pain. To top it off I had to climb back across the attic 3 times to empty the small cooler into a bigger cooler.

I like snow but I don’t need that much of it.

Winter Wonderland

Snow day

I made it to work today. Then I went home. The University shut down for the first time in 30 years. Absolutely everything in town is shut down. I had to shovel a 3 foot snow drift that was across the driveway. That took me a long time. I’m not going to be able to get out of the driveway until the street is plowed (not even with my four wheel drive truck).
